Role of renal dynamic imaging in evaluation of impairment of renal function in pediatric congenital hydronephrosis

چکیده
Objective: Congenital hydronephrosis is a common prenatally diagnosed anomaly associated with an incidence of approximately 0.5-1% in newborns. The purpose of this study was to clarify the value of 99 m diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (99mTc-DTPA) in the assessment of renal function impairment of pediatric hydronephrosis. Methods: A total of 48 children with unilateral ureteropelvic junction obstruction were enrolled and subjected to 99mTc-DTPA diuretic renography examination. The glomerular filtration rate (GFR), renal blood perfusion rate (BPR) and peak uptake rate (PUR) were quantitatively analyzed with the aid of renal dynamic imaging system. The blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (Scr) and hemoglobin (Hb) in each patient were also measured. Correlation analysis was used to evaluate the relationship of GFR, BPR, PUR with BUN, Scr and Hb. Results: Diuretic renography results showed that GFR, BPR and PUR in children with hydronephrosis were gradually reduced with the aggravation of the hydronephrosis. The BUN and Scr were negatively, but the Hb was positively relevant with the GFR, BPR and PUR in children with severe hydronephrosis. The GFR, BPR and PUR in children with mild or moderate hydronephrosis were negatively related with Scr. Conclusion: Diuretic renography with 99mTc-DTPA may effectively reflect the degree of hydronephrosis and impairment of renal function, and may be employed as an ancillary diagnostic tool for pediatric congenital hydronephrosis. It is also used for evaluation of improvement in renal function after operation.

Correlation between anteroposterior renal pelvic diameter and vesicoureteral reflux in congenital hydronephros
Introduction: One of the most common findings in prenatal evaluation is congenital hydronephrosis. The correct diagnosis is of great value. This study was conducted to find the correlation between Anteroposterior Renal Pelvic Diameter (APD), which is detected by postnatal ultrasonography, and Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR) in neonates and infants with congenital hydronephrosis. Therefore, this stu...

Introduction: Hydronephrosis is one of the major causes of referring infants for nuclear medicine investigation. Renal dynamic study is the most reliable investigation for such children. However direct evaluation of renogram leads to generation of parameters that have no physiological interpretation. The configuration of renogram is very much dependent upon the rate at which radiopharmace...

Abstract Background: Hydronephrosis is the most common congenital condition that is detected by prenatal ultrasonography. Moreover, the widespread use of prenatal ultrasonography results in an increased recognition of fetal hydronephrosis. Prenatal hydronephrosis is diagnosed at an incidence of 1:100 to 1:500 by ultrasonographic studies. The presence of hydronephrosis is not synonymou...

Background Fetal hydronephrosis is a common urinary tract anomaly that may result in renal parenchyma damage. Ultrasound is considered a simple, noninvasive procedure to diagnose and track antenatal hydronephrosis. Our aim was to study the clinical course of fetal hydronephrosis in fetuses. متن کاملEvaluation of neonatal hydronephrosis with diuretic renography
The common use of maternal ultrasonography has increased the apparent incidence of neonatal hydronephrosis. Many of these cases are found to have partial obstruction at the ureteropelvic junction (UPJ). These patients are safely managed in our institution with careful observation and only occasionally require surgical intervention. The authors present two contrastin...
